I couldn’t take in the lake view or sit back on the patio when I visited during a downpour. The atmosphere is so inviting, though, and I’m sure the food is delicious. I’m looking forward to coming back in better weather!

We had a great time here. The place was amazing, and we really enjoyed the food.

We stumbled on this place and were pleasantly surprised by the setting and the view. That was the best part of the experience, though. The food was mediocre, and while service started out great, it slipped as the evening went on. We chose the a la carte menu rather than the Gourmet (Michelin) experience. There was plenty to choose from, though some of it felt a little odd to a northern European. The starters were okay. My wife got a charcuterie board with cold cuts and cheese, but the waitress didn’t tell us what the meats were, so it felt like a gamble. We like knowing what we’re eating. I had a potato omelette with chicken, which was nice enough for what it was. Just as she was clearing our starter plates, the waitress asked us to choose desserts, which seemed strange before we’d even had the main course. We both ordered the same dish, young female calf with seasonal vegetables. It came on a hot plate so we could cook the meat longer if we didn’t want it rare. The food was bland and uninspiring, with no real seasoning, and there was no salt or pepper on the table. The wines were good. We ordered a bottle of white, and the waitress sometimes topped up our glasses from the ice bucket, but we had to get up and pour for ourselves several times. We still had half a bottle left at the end. There were only us and another couple dining outside that evening, so more attention wouldn’t have been too much to ask. The desserts were bland too, despite the waitress describing them very enthusiastically. Getting the bill took a long time because the manager, not the waitress, had to bring it. When I said I wanted to pay by card, I was told to go all the way back to an office to pay. It was a bizarre setup. Why not bring a card terminal to the table? We’d love to return for the location, but the food and service need to improve. We didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t rate the rooms.

I’m updating this nearly a year later. I’ve booked here for my birthday for the past three years. This year I tried another local restaurant, mentioned in my other reviews, and it was a disaster that left me feeling bad. To lift my spirits, I booked a belated birthday meal with my family, and we enjoyed ourselves as usual. We sat outside at first, but there were more insects than I liked, though I know that’s normal. The owner gladly moved us inside. The three courses, wine, dessert, and little birthday treat were a real redemption. I left remembering why I always choose this place for special occasions. Thanks to Elisa, Michele, and the wonderful staff. See you soon! It’s a wonderful restaurant and boutique hotel, or perhaps a bed and breakfast. I’ve eaten here a few times and always enjoy the creative, high-end surprises on the tasting menu. The food is flavorful and beautifully presented, and there’s always more than you expect. The property sits against a lake, with lovely scenery early in the morning and at sunset. We stayed at the hotel once. It’s well appointed with little luxuries like soaps, and the bedding was comfortable and luxurious. We also spent time in the garden behind the property, which is beautiful. You need a car to get here and explore the area. There’s nowhere to walk to and no activities at the hotel. A saltwater pool, tennis court, or some other recreation would be wonderful here, though you can find those things in nearby località. It’s an excellent place.

A gift dinner brought us to Casa Vissani, and the setting overlooking a gorgeous lakeside was spectacular. The experience, atmosphere, service, and food were all amazing, with magnificent presentation and hospitality. We’d absolutely travel back from our home in California for another gracious, impeccable, and memorable visit, including a photo with Chef Luca Visani. Grazie e salute, Mario and Carol Leone.
