Hotel Alpi

We stayed for more than ten nights and had a comfortable, wonderful visit. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and our requests were handled right away. The hotel faces the beach, with access to two public beaches across the road. We didn’t eat dinner there, though the dining hall was always full. Breakfast can be included with the room, and coffee is available from morning until the bar closes at night. I’d highly recommend staying here when vacationing at Lago Maggorie.

Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and tasty, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and a good size, with lovely views across Lago Maggiore. We caught two beautiful sunrises from the balcony. The hotel is very central, about a ten-minute walk from the ferry terminal for trips to other towns around the lake. The road outside is busy, but closing the balcony door blocks out the noise. Across the road and through Villa Fedora’s lovely public garden is a pretty sandy beach for swimming in the cool lake. There’s also a fresh, good-value four-course dinner each evening for €28. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it.

The lake views from the front rooms are beautiful, and my room was immaculate. Housekeeping was brilliant, with lovely clean towels that seemed new, and the bathroom fixtures looked new too. I stayed five nights and enjoyed every moment. Downstairs beside reception there’s a bar with tables, plus an outdoor patio with umbrellas facing the lake and an indoor breakfast room. Breakfast had lots to choose from: pastries, meats and cheeses, eggs, juices, cappuccino served at the table, and the best bread rolls I’ve had in Italy so far. It’s a few minutes’ walk to the lungo lago, which is nice for a stroll after eating. The guests seemed mostly middle-aged or older, from Germany, Italy and some English-speaking countries. Reception staff were friendly, and Renzo, the owner, couldn’t do enough to help.

A reasonable hotel in a good spot, with a beautiful park and beach just across the road. We found it rather noisy, though. There aren’t many soft furnishings, so sound carries up the stairs from the dining room and from smokers outside.
