I was nervous about staying here after reading the reviews, but the owner’s hospitality was a lovely surprise. Everything was spotless. There’s parking inside the property as soon as you arrive. The shared bathroom was immaculate, with a bidet, toilet, sink and a hydromassage shower cabin. I was travelling with my dog, and the owner welcomed him warmly. There’s no breakfast option, but in the lounge the owner provides a little table with tea and a Nespresso machine with capsules. After my stay, I’m left wondering whether the people who wrote the negative reviews stayed somewhere else, or whether they simply like unfairly hurting other people’s work. I’d recommend this place 100%.

A little paradise with wonderful cats, quiet and clean, and the manager was very kind. The prices are excellent, and the central location is really convenient. I’ll be back for a holiday on beautiful Lake Maggiore. One thing to know: the rooms are on the ground floor and the bathroom is shared with everyone, so it may not suit people who are very particular about security and privacy. Highly recommended.

The shared bathroom was outside the room, and the mattresses were dirty and smelled of bodily fluids, including urine. There was thick dust and all sorts of animals in the room, spiders, worms and other insects. The bed linen was worn and smelled bad, and the towels were in awful shape and looked makeshift. We couldn’t sleep or shower after this terrible experience, so we had to leave. The owner still demanded €120 for one night and didn’t give us the required receipt, just a scrap of paper. The way we were treated and the words used were rude and inappropriate, especially with children present. An awful facility, filthy and unprofessional. Anyone recommending it is either being paid or has a taste for horrible places.

The hosts made us feel at home right away. They were welcoming and discreet, but always ready to help, and we slept wonderfully. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. We stayed at Il Guscio from August 9th to 12th using the Piedmont holiday bonus. The house and garden are ideally placed for walking to the beach or the town centre. We highly recommend it, a peaceful oasis.
