The location is great, though what’s provided is pretty basic. There wasn’t coffee or even basic seasoning, and the living room had OTA TV with just one English-language channel. On a cold, rainy day, though, we got caught up on "Little House on the Prairie"! The old Wi-Fi was unreliable and not much use. 4G cellular service worked better.

Suite Lilia is an elegant apartment at the tip of the Bellagio peninsula, with lovely views over Lake Como. There’s a small garden with a large magnolia, plus a fully equipped kitchen and a living room with a flat-screen TV. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms with hairdryers. The ferry port is only 250 meters away, with connections to Como, Lecco, Menaggio, and Varenna. The building also has a story in my family. It was my grandmother’s house, and Liszt stayed there with his lover Marie d'Agoult in 1837 and 1838. They spent a long, passionate honeymoon in an apartment on Salita Serbelloni, where he wrote some of his best-known works, including the Années de pèlerinage and the Harmonies poétiques et religieuses. There’s a plaque on the building facade to mark their stay, and the building now also houses Suite Villa Lillia.
