The location was fine, but the sea was extremely shallow and below average. In the evenings, the water wasn’t somewhere I wanted to swim. The breakfast ran from 7.30-9.30, so if you want to sleep in and still eat, forget it. The food was three-star quality at best: cheap yogurt, questionable cheese and ham, and coffee that was 2/5. The property has an old-fashioned, three-star feel, and the two plastic shower gel and shampoo sachets were only supplied on arrival, with no daily replacement. We did appreciate a lovely Sicilian lady who helped us with food and drink suggestions in town. Around 80% of the guests were over 70, which isn’t necessarily bad, but the place felt like the 1980s. On our last day we asked for a one-hour late checkout and were refused because they said a large group was coming and they were fully booked, even though Booking.com still showed rooms available. We then asked to leave the car in the lot for two hours and were told it would cost 5€. They said the arriving group was coming on one bus, and had even confirmed there was parking space. The area was great, but the service let us down. When we went to the room we’d been assigned, someone was already staying in it. They eventually moved us, only for us to find the air conditioning wasn’t working. Communication was hard because nobody spoke English, even though Booking.com lists it as a language. We had to rely on Google Translate, which ate up time during our one-night stay. After all the back and forth about our problems, we were hot and bothered, and no one offered us a complimentary drink.
