Hotel Edward

The hotel is in a lovely spot, just a few steps from the sea, and the staff were really kind and helpful. We found parking available when we arrived, which was handy. I booked through eDreams only 4-5 days ahead for two nights at the end of July, and the communication was great. They helped us over WhatsApp with a late check-in, left the keys for us, and made sure we were welcomed properly. Our room was small, and so was the bathroom. There was no shower tray, so the sink, shower, and bidet were all close together. Still, it suited us, everything was as expected, and the price was fair. A convenient choice for a weekend as a couple.

The location is handy, right by the sea and in the city center, and the sun lounger service at Bagno 88 was excellent. The hotel is three stars, but the rooms really need updating. The air conditioning smelled moldy and only worked partly. Even in a sea-facing room, you can't actually see the sea. The balcony is tiny, so there's not much privacy. Breakfast food should be labeled, in my opinion. The espresso was terrible. Parking is available, but you have to pay for it.

For July, the price was reasonable, and the rooms were comfortable and had good equipment. The shower was cramped, with only a curtain and no tray, and it kept sticking to you. My main issue was the old metal bed frames. They sagged, so I slept badly and ended up with back pain. In 2024, you'd think hotels wouldn't still have beds from the 1980s or 1990s instead of wooden slats. Replacing them would make guests feel better looked after. There are very few spaces in the guest parking area. If it's full, you have to park a long way off, and finding a spot on the street in high season is almost impossible. It was nearly perfect for what I needed.

I've stayed here with my son two years in a row, and we've had a great time both times. The place is very clean and well kept, and the staff are genuinely kind and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious, with a sea-view balcony, TV, and air conditioning. You can see the sea from the balcony, and the hotel is 50 meters from it. The train station and town center are about a five-minute walk away. Street parking is easy to find, though there's also a paid lot belonging to the hotel, a bit farther away. I do wish breakfast were included at least, but it's still very good value. I've read the negative reviews and honestly don't understand them. It's not presented as a five-star hotel, and the website description is clear and accurate. People should read it carefully before booking. We'll definitely return next year.
