Hotel Fabius

A good place.

We had a late-night check-in, and the staff were friendly and understanding. Breakfast was okay, and the rooms had everything needed, though the building and hotel feel dated. The private car park was full, so we had to pay to park on the neighbouring street.

The maids and cleaning staff were lovely, polite, and friendly. The beach staff were helpful too, though Lido 33 was presented to us as a hotel deal when it actually has the same owner. It cost more than other beach clubs nearby for just two loungers and an umbrella. Our room upstairs was beautiful, but the lower part of the building badly needs renovation. The hotel has three stars, but they seem to come from the surname, and not Zaccagni's! Breakfast needs work: every morning it was the same, with four pastries left out casually and two slices of mortadella on a tray. We arrived late in the evening, so we asked to check out at 5:00 PM. They said yes, but wanted €50 to keep the room for seven extra hours, even though the same room on Booking.com costs €70 a night. The room was nice, but it felt like there was little interest in keeping customers happy when money was involved. A bit more consideration would have helped.

The staff were genuinely lovely and always ready to help, which I really appreciated. The room, though, was cramped, and only a few rooms have been renovated. Ours was older but reasonably clean, and the bathroom was awkward to use. Water wouldn’t drain properly from the shower, spilled out, and flooded the bathroom. There was no hairdryer in the room. They lent us a portable one when asked, but it kept switching off and took about four times longer to dry my hair. Breakfast was sparse and not very good. Parking costs extra, and it isn’t cheap. For a 3-star hotel, I expected better.
