Relais Villa D'Amelia

The pool area is nice, and in general we had a good stay. Our first room had an old bed with a noticeable dip in the middle, but we were able to switch rooms after the first night. Both rooms had showers that only worked if water also came out of a second tap, which struck me as a lack of environmental awareness. The public areas, including the toilets and corridors, were also overheated.

We had to cancel because of a family emergency, and the cancellation didn't go through properly. As soon as we realized, we called, but they wouldn't refund us because the deadline had passed by a day or two. We had even paid extra for a refundable rate so we could cancel. DO NOT BOOK HERE.

The location among the vineyards looked promising, and check-in was smooth and pleasant. The wellness area looked inviting too, but the property itself felt outdated and needed a proper uplift. The mattress was extremely firm, the sockets were old, and the shower area was cramped. The sauna wasn't working in the morning, which was disappointing. Bar service fell short. Drinks came without snacks, which I expected in Italy, even though snacks were visible behind the bar. Breakfast was à la carte, but there was no freshly baked bread, and the coffee was surprisingly poor for Italy. For a luxury property, the service lacked the refinement and attention to detail I expected. Despite the positive reviews and beautiful setting, I wouldn't stay at Relais Villa d’Amelia again.

The surroundings were idyllic, and the rooms felt romantic and cozy. My wife and I had an amazing time in November. The staff were amazing, and the food was out of this world. We also had a great, authentic experience on the truffle hunt organized by the hotel. Highly recommend.
