Besides the way I was treated, the B&B was clean, reasonably good for the price, and in a quiet neighborhood. Still, my experience was much like the one 'Albert Jansen' described below. The owner or manager seemed to have a prejudice against cyclists, since I arrived by bike too. At first he was moody and impolite, and raised his voice more than once. I don't speak Italian and he didn't speak any language besides Italian, which made things hard to sort out given his attitude. For my first night he wouldn't let me keep my bicycle inside the building, saying it would be 'annoying' to the other guests. There were two guests already, and two more arrived only after me, so I guess he could read their minds. On the second night, keeping the bike inside was suddenly fine. Luckily, it wasn't stolen. I nearly turned around and left, like 'Albert Jansen', but personal circumstances meant I had to stop that day and couldn't look for another place in the 40-degree afternoon heat. By the next day, and when I left in the morning, the man had become polite. I still found it hard to believe the change was genuine.

The location worked very well for my exam at Giustino Fortunato University and would also suit people with appointments at Benevento hospital. Visitors mainly interested in the city may find it a bit out of the way, though public transport serves it well. The city bus comes every 40 minutes; arriving by car is easy, and the quiet setting is a plus. The place was welcoming, comfortable, and spotless. I stayed in a single room with a double bed and shared bathroom. The room had a private balcony, and the surroundings were peaceful. There were two other people staying in the apartment, but we never saw or heard them. The shared bathroom was very clean and worked well. A top-notch place, recommended.

The cicadas coming through the window are one of my favorite memories from this stay. I booked two nights for €35 a night on July 24, 2023, because the price was so affordable. The house was lovely, well furnished, and immaculately clean, which was a pleasant surprise. I had the blue single room with a nice balcony, roomy and comfortable enough to smoke on, especially in the July heat. The shared bathroom was well kept and very hygienic, and the owner was courteous. Last year, check-in wasn't allowed before 2:00 PM; I think arriving earlier should be possible, since waiting until then isn't ideal in summer. Recommended.

I've run into plenty of rudeness while traveling in Italy, but this man was the worst. He got annoyed because I was late, even though my train was delayed and Tren Italia isn't exactly reliable. Then he was grumpy again because I didn't speak his language. If you're taking money from tourists, it would help to speak at least one foreign language, and to be polite! He also told me what to do with my bags and bicycle. I paid in advance but didn't use the room, and he can keep the money. Put it toward a language course! 🙏 Absolutely not recommended. I've rarely met people as rude as this in Italy.

Line 2 stops about 200 meters from B&B La Villetta, which is at Via Segni 16, 3.8 km from Benevento's central train station. It's easy to reach by car too, and the price is very low for the quality you get. Mr. Saverio makes the stay feel like home with service that's well above average. He's kind, friendly, and happy to answer questions or share information. The plants he tends with such care and the several aquariums in the breakfast and reception room, with his fish, make the place especially pleasant and comfortable. Mr. Saverio deserves an Oscar for his character and genuine nature. My sincere, warm thanks to him. There's nobody like him!
