Not a cheap stay, and it was a bit cold in winter. Also, finding the place was difficult.

The host was kind and welcoming, but the place itself was nasty, cramped, dirty, and disturbing. Dust and grime piled up in the corners so badly I was close to having an asthma attack. The so-called “Italian breakfast” was a vending machine and four snack packets, all sitting around in a greasy corner. I think the NAS (Italian National Anti-Corruption Police) would shut it down immediately if they came by.

We’ve found better for the same price in other Italian cities, including Rome and Trento. Here, breakfast was from a vending machine, with only a small choice of cereal and toast to add. The room seemed fine at first, but the bathroom shower hadn’t been cleaned properly, and there were spiders and cobwebs in the corners. It was cold, and the heating couldn’t warm the room enough. Soundproofing was poor too: from our room near the entrance, we heard the front door open and close every time, especially early in the morning. There were no shutters, just a curtain, so lots of morning light came in. I also found the bed quite uncomfortable and short.

Just two words: look elsewhere.
