Nido Center IV

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, and the staff were really nice. It’s close to both the bus and train stations, right by the road to the train station. There were lots of people around, though it was quiet at night. It’s expensive, but I’d recommend staying here if you’re in Bergamo.

We were a family of four, including our 7-year-old, on a long October weekend, and would happily choose this place again. The owner picked us up despite our late, heavily delayed flight, and was quick to answer questions on WhatsApp. When the shower head broke over the weekend, it was replaced that same day. The accommodation was clean and had enough room for a place where we mostly slept. The price was very good. It’s simple but nicely decorated, so don’t expect luxury, and you’ll probably find it’s the best place around.

Nido Center was a convenient base, and we stayed there twice during our time in Italy. It felt secure, cost a reasonable amount for the area, and had a good range of bars and restaurants nearby. Getting to Bergamo station or the airport was easy. The bus currently costs 2.60 euros, and a taxi to the airport is about 16 euros. Our first room was clean, had plenty of space for four, and everything worked as expected. There was a TV and fridge, though we didn’t use them. The shared kitchen was handy, even if we barely used it. Communication was good, and the host was especially accommodating when our flight arrived close to midnight after a delay and when we had to leave at 4am for our flight home. It wasn’t easy to spot the entrance. The front door looks like it belongs to an apartment or office building among the shops and restaurants (picture added). The shower room in our second room needs updating: the grout between the tiles needs redoing, and water gets past the shower screen. The underfloor temperature control didn’t seem to cool either room, so nights were quite hot.

We paid 104 Eur for one night, and the experience left a terrible impression. After our flight was delayed by 1h, our check-in was delayed too. Nobody was there to let us in. When I called the office, they said they had waited an hour for us, spoke extremely rudely, then hung up on me. I understand they needed an exact arrival time, but delays happen when you’re traveling from another country, in our case another continent. They never contacted us while we were late, they had just left. On my second call they were even ruder, spoke mockingly, and hung up again. When someone finally arrived, I asked if that was acceptable behavior. He said, "It's not a hotel here, you can't arrive whenever you want," went on about how long it takes to get there from the airport, and finished with, "You want to stay, stay. No? Go!" The whole thing was extremely upsetting. There are more civilized ways to speak to people. I wouldn’t support this business or spend my money there again. Some of the bedsheets were stained, too. The street was extremely noisy even at 6am on a Sunday, and the windows had no insulation.
