Ostello Aig Bergamo - Hostel

The rooms are basic, but they're heated well and the beds are comfortable, with nice thick blankets. The only real downside is the location, though the buses run regularly and on time if you plan around them. The photos are of the rooftop terrace. Breakfast was lovely and included, and the facilities were excellent. The staff were especially helpful with bus times and places to visit. I'd highly recommend it if you're on a budget.

(I'd give it a 2.5 if that were an option.) My summer trip here was miserable. The room temperature was either extremely hot or extremely cold, and every mattress and set of sheets had strange stains. There was inappropriate writing on the bed frames, and the location felt quite strange. A few things helped make it tolerable: the staff were nice, there were attractions and refreshments nearby and in the hostel, and some rooms had nice views. Still, I wouldn't recommend it unless mosquito bites, extreme temperatures, and questionable parts of the rooms are your thing.

The bed was comfortable and breakfast was delicious, with croissants, other pastries, cereals, fresh coffee, and other drinks to choose from. The hostel was very nice, but the room was extremely warm even with the fan on and the balcony open. The bathroom was standard, though there was no shower curtain. The rooms are very dated and basic, and some need repairs. The dorms have few power sockets, and the rooms look much like ones I stayed in 20 years ago. The kitchen is worn and limited to two hot plates, two fridges, and a microwave. Breakfast is a small, classic youth hostel spread. Staff were mostly amazingly helpful and good to talk with. The views are stunning. You can get here by bus until 8:30 pm, or walk 50 minutes from the train station. Church bells ring all day, from 7 am to 10 pm. Laundry can be done for you for a fee, €5 when I wrote this.
