The wood-fired pizza oven was a real treat for the whole family, and Family Lombardi were the kind of hosts you could only hope for. We stayed in the garden house and loved it. There’s a lovely nature trail for a morning run, a private tennis court, and a huge, very nice pool for the kids. Such a beautiful holiday spot, with so much history.

The house and grounds are lovely, spacious, and very well cared for, and the hosts are great about helping with everything. They even arranged for an ice cream truck to stop by. Still, I’d give it 3 out of 5 because of a few things. The road gets quite noisy with traffic on some days, and the rooms were on the warm side, so a fan would be useful. Some beds are rock hard, which meant we slept differently well. Check-in is only from 16:00 and checkout is at 09:00, so you lose most of both days even though you pay for two nights, and have to get up very early to leave.

We had a baby who felt a little unwell after the long trip and cried from time to time that first night and morning. They asked us to leave, so this isn’t a place to stay with children.

The grounds are lovely, and the house is large, with big, simple rooms.
