Bibione Residence Apartments

Everything seemed fine during the stay, but the trouble came when we left. They kept the deposit, claiming we hadn’t cleaned the apartment. We left it cleaner than it was when we arrived. Watch out, they’re cheating people.

Other families we spoke with had the same impression: staff were rude, and the rules made the place unfriendly for kids. Some had stayed before, but none said they’d come back. One family even left early. Bibione has plenty of welcoming family resorts, and this wasn’t one of them. The garden itself looked nice, but our children were told off aggressively for playing with a large, soft inflatable ball. Hardly anyone else was around, and the rules allowed soft balls. They came back to the apartment in tears and didn’t want to go out again. When I tried to discuss it, the staff member shrugged and told us to talk to the manager. The duty manager came out, repeatedly shouted at my wife to speak Italian and leave if she didn’t like the rules, then went back to reception. At least five or six other families, including some with children under five, were also told not to play ball. We eventually put our foot down and let the kids play in the garden. At lunchtime they wanted a swim, but were sent out of the pool because swimming stops from 1 to 3 pm. It was the hottest part of the day, with no one allowed in the water. The announcement to leave did come over the loudspeakers in three languages. The next morning we asked about renting bikes for a day out. We were told they were available only from 9 am to 1 pm, then from 3 to 8 pm, as if the bikes needed a siesta too. I muttered, “another fantastic rule!” and the duty manager confronted me, saying, “You must not provoke me. I will pretend that I did not hear what you said. There are rules and the most important rule is that you do what we tell you to do.” We’d stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world, and this was among our worst experiences. We’d visited Bibione the year before and had a lovely time at another resort. BRA could have been a nice place, but the rules made little sense and the staff showed very little regard for guests. The way they treated us was breathtakingly rude.
