Camping Capalonga

The restaurant was good, pleasant, and inexpensive, and the pools were okay. The accommodation itself was good too, but the sea was a long way from our bungalow. There’s just one supermarket, which may also be a long walk. The check-in and check-out were a mess because the staff were unfriendly and seemed incapable. I was there with two small children and my elderly mom, and kept having to queue again and again. It felt like the customers didn’t matter. They gave me incorrect information about services, especially opening times. I had to chase them more than once for sheets and cleaning before I got them. They also wanted cash on arrival without making that clear beforehand, so there was no chance to prepare. And the evening baby dance songs were awful.

The bungalows were clean and comfortable, and the staff were welcoming and chatty. Edo was especially sweet and full of energy, always keen to get people dancing and bring excitement to the camp. We had a great time, watched almost all the amazing shows, and would definitely recommend the camp.

The first impression was that nobody really cared. The staff seemed to be mostly teenagers, with little professionalism or experience. We were told to walk around the whole camp and find a pitch ourselves, but nobody explained which ones were free, so we had to search everywhere. The washing machines were the biggest headache. The map showed four laundry spots, but only two actually worked, and there were no signs or explanation. Reception didn’t tell us either. That left just five working machines for the whole camp. Then you find out you need a special card from reception, again with no one telling you. The card machine only takes cash and doesn’t give change, and the reception cash desk is open only at set times, so you can only change money then. Once you’ve loaded the card, the machine might work, take all your credit, or reject the card and not start. For example, it might take 15 euros when a wash costs 5 euros. Reception wouldn’t refund the money. I spent three hours sorting this out over two separate days. The pool hours were also very limited, from 10 am to 6:30 pm, and the large kids’ pool was closed all Monday. There were plenty of other problems too, like the garbage truck collecting rubbish during sleeping hours and the car gate being closed around midday and in the evening. This isn’t a holiday place. It feels like going back to the 90s, with staff who don’t know what they’re doing. I very rarely leave a negative review, but this place pushed me too far!

The place itself has kept me coming back to Camping Capalonga more than ten times. I’ve always liked the location, facilities, and atmosphere, and I used to recommend it without hesitation. Now the pricing has changed that. The increases feel excessive, with double-digit jumps rather than a few small adjustments, and I don’t think they’re justified anymore. It’s also become harder to judge the value because the website no longer has price lists or clear cost information. I can’t compare the offer properly, so I’m left wondering if the price is still fair. Until the sharp increases and lack of transparency change, I’ll have to think twice about returning.
