Hotel Ambassador

We keep returning, and the people here are a big reason why. The staff are warm, kind, and always ready to help. Breakfast has a tasty variety for different preferences, and the whole place has a peaceful feel. We’ve stayed several years running, enjoying the sea views from the balcony and the comfortable, stylish rooms. The private spa bath and sunshower were favorites, and the details feel carefully considered. This is our favorite escape, and we’re already looking forward to another visit.

Our Younique Apartment room for two adults and one child was impressively spacious, clean, and had two fridges, a large bathroom, and a balcony across the room. We had breakfast included. The apartment rate also came with a reserved place on the private beach, including touches, which was very pleasant. Poolside service was friendly and smiling. Breakfast, though, was very limited, perhaps because of the covid-19 situation, with almost no choice and not what we expected. The hotel was otherwise clean and nice, but one lift looked as if it might break down. Parking capacity was completely inadequate for a hotel this large, and some guests have to leave their cars in the square exposed to the sun all day. The prices are too high.

We’ll certainly come back. The beach is crowded, but still enjoyable, especially for children, and guests get a reserved spot with an umbrella, two sunbeds, and a small safe for valuables. The upper deck is lovely at sunset, with a hydromassage pool, sofas, and sunbeds where you can read or have a drink. There’s also a little playroom for children when the sun is too strong. The rooms are small but have a generously sized balcony, and the hotel’s services and amenities are excellent. It has a luxurious feel while staying simple and comfortable. Staff were very service-minded, which is hard to find. The owner takes pride in the hotel’s quality, and I enjoyed a wonderful grappa tasting with him. Chef Alessandro makes outstanding beef cheek in wine sauce (guancette di manzo), and there’s always a splendid salad bar. The wine list isn’t large, but each wine is high quality.

The hotel is only a few steps from the beach, and we had a perfect holiday. Staff were consistently kind and helpful, though the ponytailed woman at the bar was a pain. Breakfast was tasty, but after a week it became a little boring. The terrace is beautiful and has a sea view.
