B&B Santi Medici

Everything was good.

I let them know well ahead that I’d arrive around midnight, after booking about five days before. They said I should have given 30 minutes’ notice. When I called, nobody answered, so I sent a WhatsApp message, which at least gave me a record. At 11:30 PM I found out my stay was no longer available. I can understand unexpected problems, but this handling felt unprofessional and lacking in integrity. The management was rude and showed no care for guests’ needs. I won’t stay here again, and I’d advise others not to consider this property.

Breakfast was at the Angolo bar, using a voucher from the B&B owner, and I wasn’t given a receipt when I paid. The room itself felt like a stuffy cellar and smelled musty. The stained duvet made me feel dirty, and the uncomfortable sponge mattress kept me awake all night. I was glad I’d only booked one night. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was near the Basilica of SS Medici. I was given the keys when I arrived, then escorted to the apartment later that evening. The new bathroom and furnishings were fine, but there was mold behind the headboard and a strong musty smell. I left and stayed with a relative instead. The next morning I told the property about the mold and that it didn’t seem healthy, though it was part of what I’d paid for. He offered another room, but I declined and asked him to consider that I hadn’t used or touched anything. He refunded only half, so he still made money from the booking. I’d booked three nights because the photos made the price look good. Breakfast was only a cappuccino and croissant voucher for the café on the corner, and one listing said breakfast wasn’t available at all for that room. I can’t speak for the other rooms. A room without a window should be aired out before guests arrive, especially with mold around. Sorry, but I can’t recommend staying here.
