Domus Ying

The hosts were nice, and the place was relatively clean, with an area for walking. Still, it wasn't worth the price. Getting around was a struggle: there was just one bus from the metro, it didn't run often, and the stop was on the highway. From there we had another 20-minute walk along a road that didn't always have a sidewalk. In Bollata, not one restaurant spoke English, so we went to Milan for a decent meal. The room was cramped, like a kennel. The balcony had a toilet, sink, and an extremely tight shower with a curtain. The window was small and only opened about 30 degrees, so getting air meant leaving the bathroom door wide open. Daily cleaning was advertised, but it amounted to making the bed. Breakfast was in a small kitchen with no sink, running water, or stovetop. It had a microwave, a small fridge with water, packaged bread like the kind on airplanes, bananas, kiwis, apples, jam, and a coffee machine. That's all, so don't expect to fill up. The owner's extremely unpleasant daughter said nobody had complained before. Maybe we're spoiled by German hostels with natural yogurt, eggs, and fairly good coffee. I booked a room for two on Booking.com, but they said the reservation was for one person and asked us to pay extra for two. I don't know if the booking service glitched or the owners were being cunning. It was an unpleasant surprise.
