B&B Hope

We booked for two people from 26/9-29/9. When we arrived, I couldn’t find the street number, so I called the B&B manager. He said his wife, the host, was waiting outside, but nobody came to meet us. I called again about five minutes later, and he started yelling at me on the phone, saying his wife was right outside, then hung up. We found the number a couple of minutes later and rang the bell for 5-7 minutes with no answer. Then the door opened and two police officers (carrabinieri) came out with the host. It was terrifying and we were shocked. She let us in without even apologizing for making us wait. We paid in cash and checked in. The room was fairly clean, but there was no AC despite the cold, and the pillowcases were old and striped. During our four-night stay, the room was never cleaned and the sheets and towels weren’t changed, even though we paid 90 euros per night. On the third day we asked for cleaning and fresh pillowcases while we went for a walk. She changed the towels and pillowcases, but didn’t make the bed or clean the room. NOT ADVISED! TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE!

The location made it easy to explore the area, and we’d happily return. Our hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

The room was clean, though quite small, and outside noise came through. Getting around was easy, with the city center and train station both accessible. The check-in process is unusual, and since they only take cash, getting the right change is pretty much impossible.

The hotelier’s cheerful, friendly manner was the best part. She was helpful, brought coffee and a cornetto to my room in the morning for a few Euros, and let me leave my luggage there safely for a few hours after checkout. It’s a small place with 6 rooms and basic amenities, though the rooms are spacious. My mattress was very firm. The bathroom was clean with good water pressure, and the room had windows and a fan for airflow.
