Tiziana made an incredible Italian breakfast each morning, with espresso and eggs prepared the way I wanted. She even called a taxi for me when I was leaving. The service was exceptional. Casa Ilaria is right in the center of Bologna, with quiet rooms that are spacious and beautifully furnished. Mine had large built-in wardrobes, windows that open, a television and wifi. The bathroom felt much more like a hotel bathroom. There are rooms on both the first and second floors, though, so if you have a big suitcase, you might want to ask for a first-floor room. I found mine a bit tricky to carry upstairs.

The room was roomy, comfortable, nicely decorated, and warm through the cold Bologna nights. Titiana gave us useful city tips and made a great breakfast. On our last morning we had to catch a train before breakfast, and she sent us off with some homemade cake. We loved Casa Ilaria and can’t wait to come back! 😊

The price felt high for what is basically a BnB. We paid 190Eur, including a 15Eur late check-in charge for arriving at 8.40pm, and that night neither a private bathroom nor parking was available. The welcome was extremely friendly, though, and the location was great. Breakfast came with a huge selection of home-baked cakes in a welcoming open kitchen and dining room.

A wonderful stay. The house is beautiful, the room was very clean, and both the location and host were great.
