The beds were good, though the plastic layer underneath made us sweat badly, so remove it if you can. A safe and a fridge in the room would be useful too. With only a shared kitchen fridge, there’s a chance someone else will eat or drink your things. A safe should really be standard. We liked being able to walk to all the main Bologna sights, and duck back to the room for a siesta on hot afternoons. But sleeping with the window open was hard. The garbage bins right below our window were emptied late at night or very early in the morning, people shouted at 3:30 AM, and the town started up at 6:00. Bring earplugs. Breakfast was self-service, but there wasn’t much and the quality was basic. The fruit was dried out and the bread was dry and limited. The homemade sweet was good. Nobody from Liberty house was there when we arrived or left. That was fine, but a bit odd. The door code worked well. I hope they change it sometimes, though I won’t mention it here. After the response: Dear Nicoletta, I’m as friendly as anyone, but B&Bs, hotels, car rentals, and restaurants have pulled my leg plenty of times. Tourists aren’t walking pin machines, and we can comment on our experiences. We liked some things and were less happy with others. People visiting at another time of year, when it’s not 25 degrees at night, may want to open the window. Now they know what to expect and can bring earplugs, as I always do when traveling. The breakfast may be fine by Italian standards, but in other parts of the world we want a bigger breakfast. Do what you want with that. It’s your place.

Giovanni was easy to reach and friendly, and even pointed us to a great authentic restaurant for dinner. Our room was charming and beautiful, right in the city center. The service exceeded what we expected. Breakfast was simple but had what we needed, including homemade sweets we really appreciated. There’s also a small room where you can leave your luggage for the whole day after check-in. Definitely recommended!

Nicoletta replied quickly and kindly whenever we had a question. We had to leave early for a flight, but there was a nice fresh breakfast waiting in the kitchen. The room worked perfectly for two adults and two kids, and we were happy with the facilities. If you’re driving, Garage Farini is a one-minute walk from the apartment. It’s expensive, but I’d recommend it because parking in Bologna is a challenge. Thanks to Nicoletta and Liberty House for a lovely stay. We’ll be back!

The owner was very helpful, and the building and apartment were lovely. The bathroom was large and newly renovated, and the main square is just a five-minute walk away. At the time I wrote this, Booking.com didn’t mention the city tax on top of the room price. It has to be paid separately, in cash, and is quite significant at 4 Eur person/night. It is listed on the Bologna municipality website, but I suggest adding it to the additional information.
