Mary's Tower

The rooms were cleaned perfectly every day, and they were new, modern, and clean, though a little small. The rooms alone would have earned five stars, but I took one off for the breakfast and for the misleading impression about the place. It was a good three stars. I arrived late because my flight was delayed, and the manager kindly waited for me. He didn't speak English, so he used Google Translate to explain everything, which worked fine. I paid upfront. There was no reception, but since I was late I assumed we'd used a side entrance. I was missing a blanket and got one the next day. It was warm enough to sleep without one, but I was told a day blanket was what people normally used. The next morning I went looking for the restaurant where breakfast was supposed to be and realized this was just an apartment house, not a hotel. I respect the business behind it, but don't like the lack of transparency. At the Java bar, I was told the voucher was worth only €4. The food was more like cafe fare than a hotel breakfast, with no vegetables and so on. The choices were limited if you wanted to stay within the voucher amount. One day I had a ham and cheese croissant with coffee for €4.30, so I had to pay the extra 30 cents. That's not what I expect from a bed and breakfast. The Java staff were really nice and friendly, though, and the coffee was good.

The host was great, and the place was peaceful and pleasant. It's a small room at a small price, though a bit of a distance from the city center.

The balcony is huge, and the place is clean and plenty spacious. A great choice if you're looking for bed and breakfast.

There was a really relaxed, family-like feel here, and the place was comfortable enough for either a short visit or a longer stay. During my trip to Bologna, I found the B&B new, carefully kept, and very welcoming. It was modern and clean, with a clear attention to the small details that help guests feel at ease. I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant, well-maintained place in Bologna, and I'll come back next time.
