Mercure Bologna Centro

We only stayed one night and were happy with it. The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the garden view was a lovely surprise when we walked in. That lush green and the sound of birds really lift your mood. It’s a peaceful hotel.

The location works really well for trains and buses, and I’d choose this hotel again when I have luggage. I forgot to use my Accor points when paying, but was able to use them during my stay and got a refund, which was very helpful. The Wi-Fi was a bit unstable and hard to use, so there’s room for improvement.

Getting around from here is great, whether by bus or on foot. There are links to all parts of the city and around Italy. The staff were friendly and professional, especially at reception, where they welcomed us and were very helpful. Our room was great, with a good-sized, very comfortable bed. The bathroom was very clean and the shower had strong pressure. Good value for money. I’d definitely recommend it and look to stay here again.

Being right beside Bologna Centrale made it easy to reach landmarks by foot or bus. The upgraded Deluxe Room with a balcony was a nice treat, with lovely amenities, a minibar restocked daily, and housekeeping that kept the room in good shape. The welcome gift was a full-size face cream made with Modena balsamic vinegar. It smelled wonderful and felt like a thoughtful, generous surprise. At check-in, the receptionist was courteous, but there were long pauses, and she answered the phone while still helping me at the desk. I don’t know if that’s standard procedure or if there’s no centralized team for incoming calls, but it disrupted the flow. One morning, housekeeping knocked once and came in while I was showering. My partner didn’t have enough time to answer. There’s no ventilation in the bathroom, so I’d been showering with the door open, which made it embarrassing. The housekeeper realized what was happening and left right away. I reported it to reception soon after and asked to have housekeeping come later because we were still in the room. I got an apology then, but nobody followed up afterward or mentioned it at checkout. Hotels usually follow up on guest privacy issues, so I don’t know whether management heard about it or provided guidance or training. We appreciated the location, room upgrade, and thoughtful touches, and I hope they give the privacy procedures more attention for future guests.
