Hotel Royal Hotel Carlton

The staff were so kind and helpful throughout our stay, and breakfast was really good quality. We loved how spacious the room was, especially with those lovely balconies. We had a wonderful time at Royal Hotel Carlton! 🥰✨

The bar was a real highlight in the evenings, with great waiters and service, and check-in and checkout were both very smooth. The location and service were very good too. But our deluxe twin room had such hard beds and pillows that we couldn't sleep properly during our four-night stay. We could hear our neighbors, and they could hear us, so we tried to spend as little time in the room as possible and barely talk. Maybe another room would be better. The breakfast room was cold enough that we had to wear jackets, which made it hard to enjoy breakfast.

The location made it easy to explore Bologna Center on foot, and I felt safe walking around even at night. The station is an easy eight-minute walk away. There’s a bank and an Aldi across the street, plus Il Santo Bevitore, a good late-night pub, one block away if you arrive late. My room was clean and had nice amenities, including shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, and a small kit with a sewing kit, shower cap, and sponge. There’s a refrigerator, but taking anything out triggers an automatic charge. The mattress was very firm. At check-in, staff seemed quite focused on discussing another matter. They might have left that conversation until later, though they were pleasant and welcoming overall.

The rooms were large, bright, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of room to work or relax. It’s a luxurious hotel near Bologna Central and the main shopping area, yet the surroundings are quiet. Breakfast was great, and the service was excellent.
