We didn't meet the owner in person, though they were easy to reach and replied quickly. The communication felt businesslike. Our room was right in Bologna's old center, in a pleasant, quiet neighborhood with restaurants and coffee shops.
The location is the one thing going for it, and seems to be why the price is so high. The room itself is basic, just a bed, coffee table, and coffee maker, and there's not much of a view. When I come downtown I don't spend much time in the room, so paying that much for a space I can't really enjoy feels like a lot.
There was a Christmas market along Strada Maggiore, with stalls selling nice things. It was a pleasant place for tourists to pick something up.
