Bolsena on The Lake

I paid €150 for a Superior Deluxe room with a lake view, but an issue led the hotel to cancel my reservation and move me to a nearby hotel. The replacement looked nicer, but I was given a room worth €123 rather than the one I'd booked. If I wanted a cheaper room, I could have chosen one myself. The replacement hotel cost more, and nobody reimbursed me for the difference. They only waived the €9 city tax, so I wasn't satisfied with how the situation was handled.

We spent 13 nights here, and it was one of our most relaxing holidays in a long time. The hotel sits on a quiet dead-end road used only by a campsite and a few houses farther along. Bolsena's waterfront and beaches are a few minutes away on foot or by bike. The lake is just outside, with a lovely pool, flower-filled garden, and pool bar with kind service. The rooms are classically furnished, well maintained, and the beds are excellent. Air conditioning works very well and can be switched on through reception when requested, for example once a day as a sensible way to manage costs, then controlled from inside the room. The staff were very kind, and both breakfast and the restaurant were excellent.

The service was great, breakfast lovely, and the location perfect. The decor is a bit tired, but it's still a great place to stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

We came to Bolsena for the lake views, and this quality hotel has fantastic ones. It also has a pool and restaurant.
