Hotel Marligure

A seagull, maybe the same one each time, used to wake us every morning, gliding over the tall pines outside our top-floor window. Its happy calls came right through the glass. From the beach, I’d swim out to the end of the buoy line marking the water for pedal boats, doing freestyle on the way there and backstroke on the return. Since I was looking at the sky, I kept my direction by brushing my forearm against the rope connecting the buoys to shore. Afterward, exhausted, I’d sit on the golden sand and look out to sea, wondering if we could return to Bordighera the next summer. We loved staying at this hotel and this popular, peaceful resort. In our third year, in July, we were cleared off the beach because of a waterspout. From our balcony over the Ligurian Sea, we watched the dark funnel come in from the water, bringing back so many beautiful memories.

The staff were kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and they were quick to help at any hour. Even when a question wasn’t really their area, they still gave us detailed information. The reception was available 24/7. Our room was warm and comfortable, with a comfy bed, clean soft towels, soap, and hot water even at night. Wi-Fi coverage was excellent. We had a great stay and will choose this hotel whenever we’re in the area. Definitely recommended.

The room was tidy and clean when we got back, even though we’d left it late that morning. Housekeeping was discreet and attentive. The hotel and room were lovely, well kept, and warm, and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were consistently attentive and quick to help, smiling and friendly even at night and early in the morning. They were warm and personable beyond what the job required. Wi-Fi worked very well, and breakfast was plentiful, with delicious coffee and cappuccino. We’ll come back and recommend it to everyone we know.

Being only steps from the beach made the location ideal. The staff were courteous and helpful, and the rooms and shared spaces were exceptionally clean. The meals were tasty and generous. Free parking mattered a lot too, since finding a spot in the area during high season is difficult. I’d come back.
