Borgo Giusto Tuscany

The pool was a great place to cool off in the unusual heat, and there were plenty of loungers, with two assigned to every room and extras available. It looked bigger than it did in the pictures, and we enjoyed both leisurely swims and games in the water. Our rooms had either air conditioning or fans. Since this is the countryside, bring insect repellent if bugs tend to bite you. The hotel and the view were lovely, and the staff stayed friendly and helpful despite the heat. We brought our closest friends and family to Italy for our wedding celebrations and couldn’t have picked a better place. A friend who’s a travel agent recommended it, and everyone had an incredible time. The food was divine, and the prices for meals and drinks were very reasonable. There was a breakfast buffet, lunch from the restaurant for anyone not too full, and they arranged a great value set menu for our large dinner group. Drinks, ice cream, and other items could be charged to our rooms, which was handy at the pool since we didn’t need to carry cash. For the celebration, we’d booked appetizers, pasta, a barbecue party, and dessert. It was delicious, and we were all stuffed. They also arranged live music: Fabian and Anna sang through dinner and got everyone dancing afterward. They closed with “What a Wonderful World,” a song we’d talked about using for our first dance, which felt magical. There was also an outdoor cocktail bar that night, which our guests loved. A lovely village and a very good breakfast, with a wonderful pool too. It’s a great base for exploring the area. The rooms have character, though they may suit less demanding guests best.

We came for dinner, but the two waiters barely acknowledged us. It was quite bizarre how they kept looking away, and they seemed to do the same with other guests. The food was only average, and we never got the chance to order dessert. If good food and service matter to you, go somewhere else.

The kitchen staff were really nice, so thank you to them. But one reason we travel south is for the sunshine, and Tuscany is famous for it. Somehow we ended up in what felt like the darkest room in Tuscany! Don’t assume a listing that says “mountain view” means the room gets sun. Ask ahead of time whether it has any sunlight.
