The hotel was such a good find that we planned on two nights and stayed for three. We’d headed inland because coastal prices were ridiculous, and the scenery here was amazing. There’s plenty to explore nearby, from the caves and the monastery built into the hillside to the hilltop town of Trassilico, plus lots of walking if that’s your thing. We also made day trips to Pisa and the walled city of Lucca, and I’d definitely set aside a day for each. Our superior room had a huge wraparound balcony that we didn’t make nearly enough use of. The room was quiet and spotless, and the beds were soft. The restaurant food was excellent too. We were surprised this was rated three stars; based on places we’ve stayed before, I’d give it at least four. Everything was done to a very high standard. Marco, the owner and host, and all the staff were helpful throughout. It was almost sad to leave, but Rome was calling, then the Amalfi coast.

Lovely staff, good rooms, and a great restaurant. The location works well for exploring the area, and the price was decent, with free parking included. You can hear the road a little, though that probably depends on which room you get.

Lunch at the restaurant was the best food we had in Italy, and the prices were still reasonable, which was a lovely surprise. Marco and his team were welcoming and quick to help. Khalid also went out of his way to make sure our transfers to the wedding venue went smoothly, and he was great company.

I found this peaceful little place by chance and was lucky to spend two nights here. Dinner was well prepared both evenings, and the staff were warm and helpful. My room was comfortable and spotless, honestly one of the cleanest I’ve stayed in. Call the hotel directly for the best deal instead of booking online. It’s a hidden gem just outside Lucca.
