We were the only guests in late October, and though the hotel was empty, the staff were lovely and supportive, even serving breakfast just for us. The rooms are clean and well maintained, but the place still has the feel of a 30-year-old hotel. It had been a four-star hotel in the 1990s. It's a few meters from the beach and about a 35-40 minute walk from Bosa's old town. Worth the price we paid.

We visited Bosa for a day during our first trip to Sardinia, after staying near Alghero at the beginning of the month. After walking around town, we found a beach with chairs and umbrellas. The attendant there was very unfriendly and sent us to Mala Spina hotel to pay for them. It was a 10-15 minute walk through hot sand and across the road. My husband and I went to the lobby, where a nicer man who spoke some English sold us three wristbands for my mom and her two friends to use three chairs and an umbrella (€10 each), plus two pool entries for us (€5 each). He said the pool wasn't open yet and would open at 3pm. We returned to the beach to give the wristbands to my mom and her friends, then came back to the hotel at 3.45pm for the pool. The man who had been watching the beach chairs was now there. We were the only people at the pool. He said we had to wear rubber hats in the water. I explained that I wasn't going to get my hair wet and had it clipped up, but he only spoke Italian and sent me to reception. I spoke to the man who sold us the wristbands, but he insisted we pay €5 for two rubber hats. I was unhappy and asked why he hadn't mentioned this rule earlier. He said nothing. I asked for our money back because we wouldn't be staying. Two other employees came from the back, presumably a manager or something, and they were very rude. I told the woman we'd never encountered this rule anywhere else in Europe or the USA. What prompted this review was the unprofessional treatment from the hotel employees. They clearly don't appreciate tourists. The hotel was completely empty, which tells me something. Bad service is the main reason we would never recommend a place to anyone. Stay away.

The staff were so friendly that we felt at home. We had a wonderful stay at the Malaspina hotel and really enjoyed it. Breakfast came with a memorable view, and the swimming pool was just a short walk from the sea.

The restaurant food was amazing, with delicious dishes and plenty of variety. The hotel is beautiful and spacious, with a breathtaking panoramic sea view, a lovely pool, a well-equipped gym, and a private beach area for relaxing. The staff were kind and professional, and the service was excellent. I had an unforgettable stay, one of the best times I've had. My only regret is that I didn't bring my family, which would have made the atmosphere even more special. I hope to return soon with them for an even better stay. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Malaspina!

Great spot near the beach, and the room basics all worked, including the AC, shower, and mini fridge. The hotel is very old, though, and there was NO WIFI. Service was non-existent, and the cleaning staff were rude and didn't change the towels. The pool is large and nice, but apparently you need to buy a swim cap at reception. The breakfast buffet was embarrassing, with too little food and horrible quality. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. The coffee was great, at least. It barely deserves 1.5 stars, not two.
