Hotel Villa Clementina

The setting is stunning, with trees, different levels, a pool, tennis courts and lots of small spots to sit. It has a real family feel, and there were plenty of cats around. We were there as a couple, though, and most guests seemed to be families, including ones with small children. We could hear kids crying at nap time from our room, and meals didn't feel very romantic with the children around, even though the dining area itself is beautiful. Our room had character, was spacious, and came with lovely linens and pillows. It was clean, everything worked, and the shower pressure was good. There were ants indoors, which may be hard to prevent at this time of year with so many outside, and a few cobwebs behind the bathroom door. The staff were cheerful and friendly, but we had some communication problems. We don't speak Italian, and they struggled with some English. We were also uncomfortable with guests smoking in the dining area. Most people eat outside because it's so lovely there, but even when we moved indoors, the open windows and doors and close quarters meant smoke was everywhere. After two meals like that and telling the staff, we decided to leave the resort. We spoke to the owner, who said that even where smoking is allowed in these spaces in Italy, it isn't meant to affect other guests if they complain. The staff may not have known that and didn't act, but hopefully they will in the future.

The large, lush garden has a good pool and some sports facilities, and the rooms are nice. It's a beautiful, relaxing place to recover after busy visits nearby. Highly recommended.

Dinner was amazing, and Diana and Barbara even made sure we had some breakfast when we needed to leave early on our departure morning. The staff were so welcoming and went out of their way to make the stay special. The property is quaint, and we were surprised by how lovely it was. Our only regret is that we spent just our final night there. Can't wait to return!

Enrico was a gracious and enjoyable host throughout our two nights at Villa Clementina. It's such a quiet, relaxing spot, with a perfectly clean and comfortable room. The furnishings aren't fancy, but they're tastefully done and give the place a homely feel. The same simple, welcoming approach carried through to dining at Clementia. On our first and last nights in the country, we didn't want to drive anywhere for dinner, and staying put was a good choice. The meals weren't elaborate, but we thoroughly enjoyed them just steps from our room. Villa Clementina is listed as a 4-star property, though I'd call it a 5-star among 4-stars, if you know what I mean. It's only 45 minutes north of FCO and easy to recommend for a relaxing stay.
