Albergo La Svolta

Right in the centre of Brescia, which is a great location. The room was nice and had decent amenities, and breakfast offered plenty of choice, from pastries and cereal to toast and fruit. Everyone on staff was friendly, though some didn't speak much English. It was a good chance to practise Italian. The advertised parking is only two spaces marked as reserved, and they don't reliably stay reserved, so it's better to look for parking nearby.

BED BUGS, STAY AWAY. We noticed bites on my partner, checked the bedding and mattress, and found them crawling with bed bugs ( cimici) at Albergo La Svolta. Management first denied the hotel had bed bugs, then admitted it had been a problem several times before. I hadn't checked the other reviews myself. We checked out straight away and asked for a refund. The owner promised to return our 800 Euros, but weeks passed. I've gone back twice and was told the owner was at sea. Now the owner won't speak English on the phone or answer emails, so we're involving the carabinieri in the hope of getting our money back.

A friendly city hotel with very helpful staff, and a great base for Brescia, especially if you're there for the Mille Miglia action. When our taxi let us down, the Manager drove us to the airport in his own car instead of leaving us stuck. A really kind gesture. I'd happily stay again. Iain Dublin Ireland

For the price, we really appreciated the central location and how easily we could walk here from the train station. Breakfast was included, a modest but acceptable buffet served in the restaurant room. It's a very small, basic hotel in a three-storey old house, with no elevator. There may be only 10 rooms, and the front desk operates 24 hours.
