Albatros Residence

The grounds and buildings look lovely, the garden is cared for, and the view from rooms near the private beach is wonderful. The beach itself is great for kids of all ages, with loungers, umbrellas and water toys included. The restaurant serves good food all day at fair prices, and our room was a normal size and clean when we arrived. For a family of two adults and three kids, those things could have made this a four- or five-star stay. What brought the rating down was the lack of professionalism in hotel management, as other reviewers have mentioned. A lot of these things would be inexpensive to fix. The apartment's dining table was a flimsy plastic garden table with plastic chairs. Bedroom closets only had hanging space, with no shelves. The air conditioning wasn't blowing, so I cleaned its filter myself; it was easy, and it worked properly afterward, but clearly hadn't been cleaned in ages. There were only two knives and three small spoons for five guests. The kitchen was called fully equipped, but had no cooker hood, so using the stove wasn't a good idea. Wi-Fi was available but far too weak to be useful. The mattresses were probably the worst issue. They're old, and there were no proper hotel-grade protectors, just fitted sheets. With three children, we expected one might want the top bunk, but it hadn't been made up. We rented a deluxe room for five people for nine nights, so all six beds could have been prepared. I didn't bring these things up during the stay because even basic communication was difficult. There was a huge language barrier, and I didn't notice any effort from the staff to help, despite my speaking English and French and trying my best in Italian. With a few small investments and, above all, more professional management, this place could become a paradise, and a goldmine.
