B&b Acquapazza

The breakfast was the weak point. It was supermarket food: one coffee pod per person, and the lady said she was making an exception by offering another. On the second-to-last day there was a tart, four muffins, two kinds of cereal, and six pieces of fruit. We stayed three nights in a very central spot, a few minutes from both the center and the port. The rooms are on the second floor and get cleaned each morning. There’s a long, narrow staircase that could be tricky with lots of luggage or limited mobility. The air conditioning worked, there were plenty of outlets, and the shower was roomy and comfortable. The tiny fridge is shared. Parking was difficult, at €1 an hour, though there was one white-lined space.

The owner was polite and courteous, and even spotted that she’d confirmed a price higher than she should have. She charged us less instead. We stayed two nights for a friend’s wedding and didn’t try the breakfast. The location is very central, a short walk from the port and the center. The room was on the second floor, up a long, narrow staircase that might be awkward with heavy bags or if walking is difficult. The air conditioning worked well, with plenty of electrical outlets and a spacious, comfortable shower.

The rooms were clean apart from pubic hairs in the bidet, which was a nasty find. They’re also very small, and the stairs up to them are so narrow and uncomfortable that more than one suitcase would be a real problem. We came because of the good reviews, but this place needs to be reassessed. Breakfast was nothing special: cake left out uncovered from the day before and a dry supermarket doughnut.

We found parking during our weekend stay in mid-August, though it took some searching and was about a 10-minute walk away. The B&B itself is less than five minutes on foot from the center, with lots of restaurants nearby. We had a car, but didn’t need one to get around the city. Our room felt cozy and fairly spacious for a B&B, with a lovely, practical bathroom. In the shared living space there’s a breakfast table, and they ask whether you prefer sweet or savory when you arrive. There’s also a communal fridge with fruit, a water pitcher for each room, and a coffee machine. The owner and an acquaintance who helped translate welcomed us within a couple of minutes. We had a wonderful stay in Brindisi and Puglia, and found the B&B flawless.
