The pool was so calming, with mountain scenery behind it and the water seeming to meet the sea. I stayed in the large wedding suite, which was spotless and had lovely views. The family running the place were welcoming, helpful, and knew the area well. Our flight delays meant we arrived in the early hours, but the man in charge stayed up and greeted us warmly. The homemade food and wine are well worth trying. I’d read that the access road was awful, but in our Mini it really wasn’t too bad. For a better price, contact the owners directly. They spoke perfect English, and I heard them speaking with German and Spanish visitors too. My most relaxing holiday ever. I only missed having a poolside bar, though there’s a supermarket a couple of miles away, so you can stock up and spend the day by the pool.

The infinity pool was a pleasure to swim in, and the spring flowers around the olive and lemon groves were lovely. It’s a working farm, set in a medieval manor house that’s been tastefully adapted into the most peaceful holiday hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Carlo is a wonderful host and cook, and everyone was kind and helpful. Getting there takes some effort: the approach road is very uneven, and Tom Tom couldn’t find the hotel, so call Carlo for directions or bring a decent map. And remember, you’re in Sicily, so don’t ask for milk in your coffee! ;-)

We used the place as a base for Cefalu and for buying ceramics in Santo Stefano di Camastra. Our group of five Italian American tourists spent three days here and had a lovely time. The husband and wife who own it were very friendly, and both breakfast and dinner were tasty.

Make sure you rent a car, since the roads aren’t great and finding the place can turn into an adventure. Bring plenty of mosquito repellent too. It’s absolutely beautiful, and a great choice if you’re after peace and quiet somewhere in the middle of nowhere. 😍😍

The sea views on both sides were amazing. It’s a great spot to get away from people and relax. I’ll definitely come back!
