Gabriella and Giuseppe were the best hosts, and the rooms were lovely. We stayed at this beautiful hotel while visiting family in Caggiano, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone exploring the area or southern Italy.

The chef’s creative dishes are a real pleasure, and the service is lovely too. It’s a small hotel, and I’m already planning my third visit.

The food was excellent, and Vincenzo and the kitchen and service team were warm and willing to handle even unexpected requests. Hospitality really is central here. The small hotel sits in Caggiano’s historic center, just a three-minute walk from the castle, and the service was spot on. You feel like a guest here, in the fullest sense.

The staff and chef made Adriana and me feel at home, with delicious food and the kind of closeness you might associate with another time. Still, we were very much on a journey. We’ll certainly return to this magical place, which left us thinking about Giacinto Dragonetti and his Treatise on Virtues and Rewards. He could rightly be made an honorary fellow citizen, even after his death. Caggiano feels like a place built around hospitality from the moment you arrive. After parking, we felt surrounded by a shared appreciation for Mediterranean cultures and identities, and by the community’s focus on “possible virtues.” Staying at the “Locanda Severino” became an unmissable cultural experience. It’s set in a historic southern Italian palazzo, overlooking a breathtaking valley from a courtyard that feels like a nativity scene. When the wind is right, the sea at Sapri and Maratea seems close by. You get Northern European comforts in a warm Mediterranean setting. The five of us had dinner with the family. Stefania made us feel at home and took care of all our requests, while the service was impeccable. The setting was truly beautiful, and the food was sublime, excellent quality, with a taste of the sea. Well done, guys, you’re on the right path. We’ll definitely be back.
