B&B Il Pittoresco

A really clean, comfortable place, close to the center and bus stops. Great base for seeing the city, I’d recommend it :)

This was our fifth stay at this lovely B+B, and we’re already planning to return next year. The owners are friendly and helpful, and the place is clean and has everything we needed, including a nice kitchen and TV. The neighborhood feels safe, with a few supermarkets just a short walk away, and the rooms are well priced compared with city hotels. The city center and its best known sights are about a 15-minute walk, or five minutes by bus. Poetto beach takes around 15 minutes by bus. There’s also a great pizzeria around the corner called "100 pizza" that we’d happily recommend. Thanks so much for having us, Gianpaolo. See you next year at the latest! :-)))

The room was clean and came with a wardrobe, fridge, TV, air conditioning, and a small balcony facing the street. I booked one with a bathroom shared with another room, which was fine for one night. There was no hairdryer in the bathroom, though that could be inconvenient for people staying longer or coming from elsewhere. I only wish breakfast was included. The owner was very friendly and kept in touch by phone until we got to the room. This guesthouse near Bastione is easy to reach on foot or by public transport. The price was average, and even for New Year’s Eve they didn’t raise it. I recommend it.

Our night in the blue room was awful. Damp was overwhelming in both the room and the private bathroom, the mattress felt very damp, and my partner and I couldn't sleep. We were exhausted and didn't think to say then that the room was unsuitable for us, or for any other guest, especially at a hotel price. We tried using the air conditioning to get rid of the smell, but even running it all night didn't help enough, and it barely heated the room. In the morning there was no fruit for breakfast. With our noses blocked, we left, and the staff had forgotten to give us receipts. I had to lose 15 minutes of work and spend considerable effort getting them later that day. I called the B&B owner and explained that the room lacked the two basic things it should have provided, warmth and a welcoming atmosphere. When I asked for a partial refund, he refused. He also said they knew about the humidity issue, so they should have paid extra attention to it. Someone booking a room with a private bathroom expects a bit more care. I can't recommend the blue room, and possibly not the place. In response to yours, since Google doesn't allow replies: 1) I didn't threaten you. I said I would write about my experience either way. I’m sorry, because I don't do that out of spite or as a threat, as you wrongly said. 2) I asked for half the refund, not all of it. We were also at fault for accepting the room, so we were taking half the responsibility. 3) If it's unclear what we complained about, here's the two-word summary from my first review: "...the only two essential services the room should have offered (warmth and hospitality) were missing."
