Casa Sulla Rupe

Calcata Vecchia made a lovely setting for this stay, and the house itself is gorgeous and unusual. The owners were so kind, leaving us a sweet treat and prosecco, and they were helpful throughout. When a few issues came up because of things we’d overlooked, they were understanding about it. I’d absolutely recommend staying here.

Carla was warm, pleasant, and ready to help with anything we needed. The house is carved into the tuff, with a breathtaking view across the valley to the Treja River. It’s cozy inside and has what you need for both the kitchen and bathroom. We’re sure to come back, any time of year, and for special occasions.

It’s a beautiful, atmospheric place, and the view is incredible. Turning a cave cut into the tuff into a B&B was a brilliant idea. The problem for us was that the house wasn’t clean enough.

The double terrace gives you sunsets and starry skies that feel priceless. Our hostess also made us feel at home with her kindness, a homemade tart, sparkling wine, and permission to park for free at the village entrance. The house is roomy and welcoming, perched on a cliff in the magical, green-surrounded village of Calciata. Such a special place!
