L'Erbavoglio

We went back today and tried the pumpkin cream soup, cod, and braised meat. There’s plenty to choose from on the menu, and the prices are very fair. We first found this inn near the B&B where we’re staying, and parking was easy. The cooking is traditional and home-style, with simple, rustic flavors. The creamy vegetable soup was fantastic, and the roast was tender and tasty, with excellent sides. The staff were very kind and helpful, even setting up a table for us at 2 pm.

The spa was lovely, and we had it to ourselves for the hour we reserved. My husband and I stayed at Locanda L'Erba Oglio using a coupon, and we had a great time. The room was comfortable too, and dinner was excellent.

The main course choices were pretty limited, though the appetizers were good. We ordered eight portions of plin in roast broth, but got tortellini instead, which were nothing like plin. When we complained, they said they’d run out. It’s a shame nobody told us, since we would’ve gladly chosen something else. The homemade pandoro with chocolate cream was bland, and the cream tasted like plain Ciobar. I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant, and we won’t be back. Maybe it’s all right for a work lunch, at most.

The vegetable ravioli with thyme were excellent. We had lunch during the week, and for three people the first and second courses, sides, and half a glass of wine came to €33. The seafood, calamari, and similar first courses were less tasty, but still good. I’m reviewing the restaurant only. There wasn’t a vegetarian second course, though it would be nice to have something besides meat. Watch out for the menus, which often mix up fish with shellfish, cephalopods, and similar things.
