I’ve never had an experience like this. My father is 80 and was running late, but the host put the phone on silent, fell asleep, and left him with nowhere to sleep. I had already arrived and could have picked up the key if there had been a problem. The room still wasn’t ready at 5:00 PM. Nice rooms alone aren’t enough for this job, I’m sorry.

Santo was kind and easy to reach from my first phone call, and throughout our stay he answered questions on WhatsApp or came by when needed. The rooms were cleaned regularly, and each day he replenished the breakfast and dining area with pastries, snacks, coffee pods, tea, and whatever else you might need for a quick bite. He also added two bottles of water to our room’s small minibar every day, a thoughtful touch. The B&B on Via Giuseppe Mazzini is in a very quiet area near the Caltagirone Courthouse. There’s no reserved parking, but we found spaces just outside, and the historic center is a short drive away. The website had caught my eye with its descriptions of modern, tastefully renovated rooms and their amenities. After several years away, my mother wanted to see relatives, revisit her hometown, explore Sicily, and attend the Feast of Saint James, so I looked at a number of hotels and B&Bs before finding this one. We had a wonderful stay. Thanks again to Santo for his hospitality. We’ll return here for a relaxing visit to Caltagirone and Sicily.
