Camping Versilia Mare

This was my second visit, and things have improved a lot since last year. The pool bar staff deserve a pay rise. Everyone speaks decent English now, the food was delicious, and the bar service has really stepped up, with staff interacting with customers and smiling. They’re also much more helpful this year and seem willing to go the extra mile.

The two young owners clearly care about their work and are very capable of running this restaurant well. I ate here inside a campsite in Lido di Camaiore and had a great time: good food, a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The prices are fair too. I’d gladly return when I’m in the area.

The facilities were filthy as well as unusable, so we left early the next morning, even with the soothing sirens from the nearby hospital ambulance route. There had been no running water anywhere when we arrived, not for showers, toilets, drinking or washing up, and the bar, restaurant and pool were all dilapidated and out of use. We’d booked a week and paid a €60 deposit in advance. They agreed to refund it when we demanded it, but a month and a half later, after countless calls, it still hadn’t arrived. The rude receptionist has since “forgotten” how to understand English and broken Italian. We then spent a week at a gypsy site, which was much better, friendlier and cleaner. If you’re thinking of staying here, don’t.

There aren’t many camping options in the central parts of Versilia, so this seems like a good place for a few days by the sea. The camping is nice and very close to the seaside in Lido di camaiore. Every pitch has its own washing basins, electricity and water. Recommended.
