The location worked really well for us. The beach is five minutes away, the town is cute, and bigger places like Pisa, Florence, and Sienna are all within a two-hour drive. For anyone visiting Tuscany on a budget, this seems like a nice option. My class and I stayed for six nights. We’d seen the negative reviews and were a little worried, but we found the hotel quite nice. Our room had enough space for all of us, though I can imagine the experience depends on which room you get. Some ceiling corners and furniture weren’t perfectly clean, and one towel had a lot of odd red-orange stains, but otherwise we felt comfortable. The owners and staff were all so nice, and they even changed meal times to suit our class.

This hotel was a nightmare. The windows wouldn’t close, and the hairdryer had no power outlet, so there was no way to use it. Why put it there at all? Staff watched a football match so loudly last night that we couldn’t sleep. I went downstairs and shouted “Silence!” in Italian, but it didn’t change anything. If anything, it felt worse. Breakfast was so poor that eating out seems like the better choice. I asked if they could offer fruit tea alongside the single black tea. The next day they proudly showed me another brand of black tea, which felt arrogant, like they were giving me the middle finger. We also had to beg for forks every time. For two nights our stay overlapped with a student group, and the children made so much noise in the evenings it sounded like furniture was being moved around and they were stampeding. I went to reception three times to complain, but nobody was there. The WiFi was only quasi-available right by reception. The water situation was bad too. It took wasting three to four minutes in the shower to get warmer water, and there were no hot and cold or red and blue markings. Even the way they left the building lights on summed the place up best! ;)
