BBQ Lodge

All I needed was the great view from my single room, its modern bathroom, and a decent breakfast. Such a pretty little slice of heaven!

The bed felt so unstable I kept thinking it might fall apart. Parking is very limited too, and even after finding a spot you have about 300 metres to walk, including stairs. Still, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the view was lovely. To get to Portofino, we drove to Santa Margherita Ligure and took the ferry from there. For Camogli, the stairs get you there in about 15-20 minutes on foot. Don’t follow the track Google navigation suggests. Just know the climb back up to the hotel that way is exhausting. Apart from those issues, everything was great!

The owner made us feel at home, and the rooms were clean and each had its own character. The staff were kind and attentive too. There’s a local bakery and grocery nearby with loads of tarts and fruit, plus excellent espresso. I only wish breakfast at BBQ had a few more local specialties. This is a lovely little place tucked into Liguria’s hills. It can be hard to find, and if you arrive by car, expect some stairs to climb.

Mamoun at reception was kind and ready to help, and the place was kept very clean. BBQ Lodge also has wonderful Mediterranean air, beautiful scenery, and comfortable shared spaces where you can relax.
