M2 Hotel

It’s a long way from Florence, and that was the worst part for us. A private coach takes at least 40 minutes, public transport takes over an hour, and an Uber costs €65. We paid €30 for a one-way taxi to Campi Bisenzio to visit a medical center, so a taxi to Florence would be outrageous. There’s very little around the hotel, either. The restaurant’s lunch and dinner opening seems hit or miss. On our last night it was open for another tour group, but two days earlier, when some of our group were sick and had to stay in, there was no food after breakfast was cleared except Deliveroo. One receptionist put together a breakfast platter for our bedridden students to eat at lunch, which was very kind. Without that, they’d have gone hungry. We’re here for four nights on an educational tour from Australia, and we feel stuck. If I’d come with my family, we’d have left after night one. The rooms are okay, but sound carries through the walls. Breakfast is an ordinary continental spread, with coffee machines instead of a barista, a faulty toaster, and not much fruit. It’s not great, though not completely awful. The water has been a problem every day. On two of our three mornings so far, all 24 teenagers, aged 15-17, and five adults in our group had to head out without showers because there was no water at all. We switched to evening showers, but even then the water wasn’t guaranteed, as we found out tonight. I hope our last morning goes better. Two rooms have towel rack radiators that are stuck on, and staff haven’t managed to find someone to fix them while we’ve been here. After two nights with the air conditioning set to its lowest temperature and the windows open, two girls were moved to a different room. The radiator is still blazing. This feels like an autostrada hotel being sold as something else. I’ve hated staying here, which is a shame because Florence is wonderful. I wouldn’t recommend it. Please find somewhere else.
