Appartamenti Il Micio

We spent two weeks at Sergio's Agriturismo and had a great time on the beautiful island of Elba. Il Micio is a lovely rural apartment, with a spacious garden and green plants all around. It suited my family perfectly, and I’d recommend it to anyone who prefers an authentic country home to a luxurious hotel. The apartment was in good shape and had everything needed, even for cooking your own meals. The bathroom had recently been renovated. You can tell it’s an old building, but to me that adds to its charm. Its location makes it easy to explore the whole island, from the northern to the southern shore and across to both the westernmost point and the east. The tradeoff is some traffic noise. At night, for example, we could hear motorcycles racing north and south while sitting on the balcony. Still, I think the excellent road connections make up for the occasional noise. Beach choice depends on the wind direction, so this is a handy base for reaching beaches around much of the island. Sergio was a very likeable host. He gave us advice and quickly sorted out the minor issues we had. You can also buy delicious olive oil from his own plantation surrounding the apartment. We had a great stay and would definitely like to return someday. One personal tip for people visiting Elba: bring mosquito repellent.
