Hotel La Rosa sits in the picturesque town of San Piero in Campo. It's a quaint place with comfortable rooms at an affordable price, and the facilities are well kept. The staff are very friendly. It is one of the few hotels on the Island of Elba that operates year-round, and the rooms have climate control. There's a public parking lot within walking distance, which is convenient. Be sure to try the pizza from the hotel's pizzeria.

We'll come back. The restaurant is in a quiet little village in the hills near Marina di campo, with great food and nice service. The pizza is as good as it gets, and everything else was good too.

It's great to find good food in the early afternoon, when Italian restaurants are usually closed. I'd recommend the grilled octopus with creamed potatoes and the sea food soup.
