B&B Candiolo Comfort

I stayed at Candiolo Comfort for almost a month, and it was a terrible experience. I had to leave about 15 days before my reservation ended because of the Covid red-zone change. When I asked for a partial refund, saying I’d checked with the Carabinieri about whether a refund was required, the owner ignored me and insisted I should stay. The dispute turned into inappropriate, harassing messages, and I was eventually blocked on WhatsApp. He also had my father’s number and called him to complain that I was always having problems. When issues came up, I found excuses instead of quick fixes and had serious trouble communicating with the owner. The room was dirty and dusty when I arrived, and I spent a couple of hours cleaning it myself. The curtains, tablecloths, carpets, and sofa covers also looked like they hadn’t been washed in a long time. The only Covid precaution I saw was hand sanitizer at the entrance. The old entrance door locked from the inside, so I got locked out many times. Once I waited outside for an hour for the owner, who asked me to tell him whenever I came back. The hot water was unreliable and needed to be run or reset, while the internet went out for days and it took three days to get the password back. When my mother was helping me move out, the old handle broke in her hand as she opened the door and she hurt herself. It was an accident, but instead of apologizing, the owner blamed and mistreated us for breaking it. That’s the summary of my awful stay.

I slept really well, with no street noise, and the owner was attentive. Being able to come and go whenever I wanted also made it easy to visit my husband in the hospital a couple of kilometers away. I hadn’t paid much attention to the reviews when I booked in April, but the place turned out renovated, clean, and well cared for. The floors and bathroom looked newly redone. The windows were a little high and hard to open, though a chair solved that easily. The owners provided what I needed and were very helpful. I had breakfast in my room, with milk, cookies, coffee, and other things available. In the evening, when I didn’t feel like eating much, I could warm something up in the microwave without going out.

The area was peaceful, and the owner was very welcoming during my four-day stay. I’d be happy to come back.

I found the place cold and dirty, and the owner was rude. It was a really bad experience, and I won’t go back.
