Fantinello Hotel

We paid 200€/night because of when we visited, which felt quite high. The rooms were okay, nothing special, and the hotel looks dated, with old furniture and damaged pieces outside. Maybe it was stylish 50 years ago, but it doesn’t feel like a 4-star hotel now. Worst 4-star Hotel ever for me, never again. The staff were also quite unfriendly. Mornings were especially noisy. The staff’s vacuum cleaner kept us from sleeping in, and delivery trucks arrived every morning, making it feel like a construction site. Breakfast was really limited, with no variety and no vegetables like tomatoes. If you asked for coffee at 10:05, they looked at you as if you were asking for the moon.

Kimbo, the lovely dog in the reception lobby, was a welcome sight, and the hotel is dog friendly, which is a huge plus. The staff were friendly, the rooms very clean, and we enjoyed the pool. At the beach, you always have a reserved spot with an umbrella, and there’s secured parking for hotel guests. Breakfast was decent, with lots of fruit, peanut butter and jelly, and almond, rice, and soy milk for making porridge or müsli. I just wished there were more vegan choices, like hummus or soy yoghurt. The bathroom was quite small, but the balcony was lovely. We’d come back.

The reception woman shouted at us for returning the bikes 1 hour late, even though the hotel was empty. She had told us each extra hour per bike cost 5 euro, but that kind of behavior is unacceptable. The staff were unfriendly in general, and both the pool and rooms seemed pretty unhygienic.

The grounds are nice, the location is good, and parking is free. There are two swimming pools, and breakfast is a fairly large buffet. Staff were very friendly, and dinner at the restaurant was tasty. The rooms and hotel overall could do with a renovation to meet today’s standards, though, and it’s pretty expensive for the quality provided.
