Hotel Ca'D'Oro

The staff were all polite and professional, and I have no complaints about them. The receptionist with glasses deserves a special mention: every time we passed the desk she greeted us with a smile, no matter how often it was. That made the place feel like home. On our last day, a very polite girl at the bar served me the best coffee I had in Italy, also with a smile. The hotel was clean, the rooms had air conditioning and a fridge, and fresh towels and sheets were provided daily. It’s about 50 metres from the beach, with personal beach chairs included, and not too far from the city centre. There’s a garage under video surveillance, so the car stays out of the sun and off the street. You can also have breakfast, lunch, and dinner there for an extra charge. English and German are spoken very well, and the coffee at the hotel was very cheap. A few things could be better. Wi-Fi was unreliable, and the TV mostly had no signal. We paid a few extra euros for a sea-view room, but from the first floor the view was very poor, between two hotels, and the terrace was small. The hotel may be a little expensive, though not by much. Using an iron or other electrical items is forbidden; there are special outlets for phones and similar things, but it’s difficult when you need to iron something. There’s a normal outlet only in the bathroom, for another hairdryer or some women’s things. I’m giving it four stars because of the view and the small terrace. I’d still happily recommend the hotel to couples or families with children. We enjoyed our holiday and wouldn’t regret staying here.

The location is great, but seriously, what was that? The man I spoke with seemed high as a kite and couldn’t tell me anything about the place. There were bugs in the room, too. This was the worst stay in all of Italy for me, and I’ve been to Sicily. I can’t call this a hotel.

Breakfast had a generous range of sweet and savory food, and dinner was tasty too, with a varied menu and ample portions. It’s a family-run place, and the owners were so welcoming and friendly that they made us feel at home. The hotel is just a few steps from the beach, but the surroundings are quiet. Our room was clean and practical, with a safe, TV, minibar, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries, and fresh towels each day. The staff were always helpful and pleasant. Wi-Fi and bicycles are included, as is a beach spot with two loungers and an umbrella. The tourist tax is included in the price as well. A lovely stay if you’re looking for comfort, relaxation, and warm hospitality. Highly recommended.
