Hotel Karinzia

The hotel is right by the beach, and breakfast was good. That's about all I can praise. I booked a direct sea-view room but got a side sea view instead. The bathroom sink drain was blocked, so I had to spend time fixing it, and the shower drain was clogged too. The air conditioning was the worst I've ever seen. It was 37 degrees outside, and we couldn't cool the room. Dogs are allowed, but if you bring your pet to breakfast, you have to sit in the area that's in full sun, so I wouldn't recommend that. We planned to stay for three nights but decided to leave the next day. Reception said we could ask for another room, but the hotel should check rooms before guests arrive. This is a three-star hotel that I really can't recommend.

The rooftop has a whirlpool and a place to sunbathe, and breakfast is complimentary. The rooms are clean, with a decent balcony view of the strip and beach. The hotel is close to the beach along the strip. The only downside was that the walls are thin, so you can hear people in the hallway. Recommended.

The breakfast was very good, with a good choice of sliced meats, plenty of fruit and salads, and lots of delicious cakes and cookies. The staff were kind and helpful, and sorted out all our problems. They suggested using the free parking spaces in town instead of the hotel lot. It took five minutes to get to our car, and we could usually find a free space except on Saturday. Leaving was awkward, though: the road by the entrance was crowded, and my family had to wait with the bags while I went to get the car. Our room was very small, probably the smallest where I've slept with my family. There wasn't much room to move around, and the window faced the back of the hotel, where a machine murmured all day. With the doors closed, it was quiet. The balcony on the top floor had a very nice view. The hotel is at the beach, but the beach stretches a long way, so it takes a few minutes to reach the water. We could use the hotel's sunbeds, or bring our own and set them between the water and the rows of sunbeds. The sea is very shallow, and you have to walk a long way before your legs stop touching the sand. It was useful to store our sea toys near reception. The hotel also has free bicycles, which saved us long walks to the centre or shops. Traffic is chaotic but slow. There are 26-inch bikes and some 20-inch ones for children. We missed having a 24-inch option because the 26-inch bike was too heavy for my daughter. The pros were the beach, excellent breakfast and staff, free bikes, balcony view, and hot tub. Parking was difficult, rooms were small, and the hotel is 600m from the city centre. The long beach and shallow sea could be a pro or a con. Even with the small room, I'd suggest this hotel, since we didn't want to spend much time in the room.
